Default Differences between a 451, and a 551 blower?

Hello all,

I've got a 1512, and an 882 diesel. Been looking for a good 451 blower for a while now, but haven't found anything. It seems that the 551's are more plentiful.....so I'm wondering what the differences are.
Was also considering a single stage 48" Haban, but I think those are even harder to find.
Before anyone mentions it, I am running the late model 6" PTO clutch right now, but could switch back for the Haban. Getting the right pto rpm won't be a problem.

I just want a better performing blower than a QA42.
Even if the brackets don't bolt right on from a 551 that won't be a huge problem, since I am a welder.
I really haven't seen much talk about the 551's. Does anyone here own one?

Thanks,
Dean

The 451 and 551 are basically the same, except the 551 is newer and built a bit lighter from what I've heard. They mount the same. Or change the PTO clutch back to what it is supposed to be and find a 450.

I saw that, but that one is a 451. Here's the 450 now on Evilbay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Look at the price !?! There's somthin fishy goin on.

Anyway I got lucky, and picked up a really nice 450 on Sat. for a good price, and it was only 30 min. from my house! I'm going to keep looking for a 551 though.

I think the bidder is just an idiot.

Congrats on your new snowblower!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
