Most hardware stores would have keys or key stock that you can cut to length.

Hook a jumper wire from the positive battery post to the positive coil stud and try starting it. If it starts you will have to trace the wire back to key switch and find where your losing power

Most bigger hwd stores carry them as well as auto parts, If you don't have the old one to take it with you, take the S/Gen and find the correct one for a dollar. Also it takes the same key that all billion delco generators took starting in the 1930's to about 1962-63 in vehicles so a starter gen shop would have the key also. And many earlier alternators used it also. google woodruff key for delco ![]() And FWIW, Delco found out they could eliminate it by tightening the nut tighter. |

George..I was not very clear on that...I needed it for the pulley on the engine...turned out to be a 1/4 by 1/4 square that I was able to get....noticed the belt looked a bit worn too, so I was able to match that up at a parts place that was open today...got it back together...and it is a lot quieter....love this little tractor

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
