Plowed the new garden plot yesterday. Worked well due to everyone's tips and instructions.
One problem. I am unclear as to the coultier adjustment. I've understand the proper swing, and the depth setting. But, how close to the share should it be?....almost touching, 1/2", 1"? Occasionally the sod would pinch between the share and coultier.....I tried both ways....still not sure.

I viewed the manual online. All it says about the coultier is :The coultier should set at half the furrow depth".
It doesn't specify how close to the share it needs to be.

If I am not mistaken and I will check my manual later to double check, but the coultier only needs to make a 2 to 3 inch cut. What you will probably need to do is make a pull with the plow with the tractor tires down in a previous furrow to be at the correct angle. Stop your tractor, leaving the plow down and visually see and measure how deep the coultier is cutting. If it is too much raise it, if not enough lower it. That will also be a good time to make sure the plow is pulling straight and cutting straight. If not you can make adjustments.

My question is: "Should it almost touch the share, or should I be able to wrap my hand around it and the share?".

Ahh.. Ok I didn't understand the question completely. The coultier should stop just shy if moldboard. I think mine is about a 1/4 away when at the closest point. Sorry about that
. It shouldn't break the plane of the moldboard edge.

I thought having it close seems best, so when it cuts the sod, the sod just slides from the coultier to the share, and rolls out. When there is too much gap, it gets caught between the wheel and the share. Is this the correct line of thought?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
