We do have a motor issue. I replaced the fuel bowl and put a good carb on that I had laying around because it wasn’t running right and fouled two plugs just riding around the yard. It puffs smoke off and on, not constantly. Not under load vs heavy load, it will do it just idling. I found that I’m getting a lot of oil up in the combustion chamber. I pulled the head again and looking down the bore there’s a very small streak 1/16” or so of oil being left on the cylinder wall when the piston goes up and down. I think it is a cracked ring perhaps, or maybe the rings have aligned their openings or stuck ring? There isn’t much noticeable wear in the bore and the piston feels snug (it’s not flopping around) and the engine runs quiet, no knocking or rattling. Looks like my next step is to take it apart and see what’s happening in there.

You had a stuck valve, thinking you also might have stuck rings.
Could try a snake oil treatment of ring free of sorts,or some penetrating oil
sitting in the bore for a while.
Might work, might not, but @ this point you are just playing, so no harm no foul
Also could try some in the crankcase and just let it sit and idle over a period of time, many times over,creating heat/cooling cycles.
But honestly, it is prolly plum tuckered and needs "refreshed"

Yeah that's what I was thinking also. I'll play with it some more and if it doesn't straighten up I'll crack her open and see what's up. I needed something to keep me busy this winter.
