Well, let the games begin. I'm starting on this adventure with no clue how to actually begin. It's going to be a slow process. Here's what I did today:
Basically just started taking things apart. |

Yeah! Buy a box of zip lock heavy duty (freezer) baggies and drop a paper in each one with the bolts/nuts washers, etc that you take off written on it.
Take tons of pictures of things Post them here so we can ride along with you. Enjoy the fun!

The only ting you need to watch out for with the bolts is this.
You will be pulling a lot of bolts that will be same size head and thread but different lengths. This is where you may want to take some notes when placing in bags. A lot of people come on OCC asking which length bolt goes where. The answer is not always easy as most of us do not have that committed to memory. Love to see pics along your journey.

When in doubt the parts look up will usually tell you bolt diameter and legth of the various assemblies. That’s how I put my 122 together after 10 years.

Well, now that I seem to have a lot more time on my hands, the restoration continues. I took the engine to my local Cub Cadet dealer and they basically said they wouldn't touch the engine. I've attached an image of the engine with the head off. It looks pretty rough but is not frozen. It actually turns great. Where to start? Looks like I'm going to have to get the engine running myself. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

The engine hasn't been run in over 25 years. I know it was running when my uncle parked it. I did not attempt to run it before I took it apart.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
