Electric vs hydraulic rockshaft. Are they different?
I just bought a most hard to find cub cadet hydraulic lift pump with ram assembly for my narrow frame 124. I'm going to rebuild it before use of course. What size belt does it use? While I wait for it to arrive. I'm going to see if anyone here have a rocker shaft that they want to sell me OR show me pictures how can I modify my manual lift handle to work with the hydraulic lift. Also the clutch cover, how much to cut away. |

I put a hydraulic lift on my 125 last summer (2019) after I found one at the flea market at Red Power Roundup.
You use the same lift rockshaft as the manual lift, except that the handle is cut off where it comes out of the lift mechanism. I took some pictures of installed hydraulic lifts at Red Power to use as guidance and I also have a copy of the Hydraulic Lift Installation Manual that I could email to you, if you would be interested. No charge of course, but I would point out that the manual didn't answer all my questions, some things I had to figure out on my own, but it did help some. Mine is on and working, so I could take some pics of specific things if you need me to. Internal parts for these things are scarce. I bought a new belt for mine, but I do not recall the number. If you can give me a day or two, I can walk out to the shed and see if the belt number is legible on mine. You will have to move the engine to get the belt on. EDIT: OK, It's a slow day so I went out and checked on that belt. ![]() IH 38616 I got it at the local Cub Cadet Dealer. Same dealer also made new hoses for me. |

I bought the complete pump and ram assembly with pump brackets and hose. I think it does t come with the needed bracket to be put on the rock shaft. That what I need to see what all needed to make my manual lift rock shaft to work along still be able to use my snow plow up front. |

This is what I was talking about. The lift arm to be able to use onto the manual lift rockshaft assembly is what I dont have.

So, I went out to my spare parts cub. It has a manual lift rock shaft I took out a while back. I got to looking at it and it seem that I need to cut where my finger is pointing at.

If I get the chance tomorrow, I will get pictures of both my 125's. One is manual lift and the other has hydraulic lift.

The rockshafts are different for a hydraulic lift and an electric lift. The electric lift is 3/4" further out (away from the frame of the cub) than the hydraulic lift. You can use an electric lift rockshaft if you use spacers.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
