1914 starter part 2
I found out the answer to my question the hard way. There is no way to remove the starter on a B48G without pulling the engine. It is more work getting all the shrouds off than the engine out. And I realized it is a Onan instead of a Kohler. steve

Even on the Kohler KT-17, M-18, and M-20's are difficult too.

FWIW:
a while back I put a fuel pump on a 782/M-18 and decided to remove the shroud on the head to allow better access, and to repair the missing bolt I noticed by the front PTO area. Of course that included the upper/lower muffler covers. So figgered while doing that,I might as well swap the starter I was using for a better one I had. I was successful fiddling with a couple of extensions/universal joint on the ratshit, for the starter, but when it was all done, prolly would of been easier to just pluck the engine out had I went at the job knowing I was going to do the starter in the first place, and address the missing bolt problem. ---Hindsight 20/20/Monday morning quarterback situation.
