Thank you for the help. I am going to take it to a shop that I trust to give it a good check up and tune up. I think it needs someone better to work on it than my less than amateur level.
The 1320 worked good Saturday pulling a trailer. I loaded some fallen trees, tree roots around a pond. It did good for a while and then slowed down. It had a heavy load on the trailer. We have a slightly sloped area about 100 yards long. The 1320 made it most of the way and then slowed down so much I had to help it by pushing it. Later on it did good again. Thanks again for all the input! |

The cub cadet repair shop called today. My 1320 has a bad tranny. Replacement parts are unavailable. I hated to get the news.
I guess I will look for a small lawn/garden tractor with an external PTO. Thank you for your help. |

Update: I think we found the problem. We found a broken weld that holds the hold the shift rods in alignment. This is located under the cover where the transmission engage/release lever is located (in front of the seat). If the bolt is in alignment, then the tractor will move. This weekend, we are planning to weld the bolt and install a new drive belt. I hope this works. The shop I took it to said they never looked at the tranny.

Chances are they just would rather sell you a new machine than fix.. Most shops do not like working on stuff 10-15 years old or older.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
