I finally was able to pick up my 100 today. The seller wanted to back out but finally said since he had already agreed to the sale he would still let me have it. He just had to tell me several times what a deal I was getting.
According to the number it was built in June of 1965.
My dog approves. I cleaned out the tank & carb bowl, cleaned the points, installed a battery, and rode it around the yard, with the dog on my lap.

Now that the 100 is home for good, I'll be going for two more of the Cub Cadets I've found tomorrow. Probably the 122 and the 108. The other three, 102, 104, and 128 next week.
I wish the 108 had factory/option headlights and a seat and the 122 had the correct steering wheel, but I'll find them. And I prefer the narrow front wheels & tires like the ones on the 108 for the 122. The seller says he has the grill for the 108 stashed.

Well crap! The "seller" has decided, after putting me off several times for various reasons already, that he doesn't want to sell any of the five Cub Cadets. He is somewhat elderly,( I don't know how old,) and I didn't say much because I didn't want to make him mad, yet. He also has a 1954 Power King/Economy tractor that he is still willing to sell to me and I don't want to mess up that deal too.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
