Gary:

HyTran is a "patented formula" and it is made by the Viscosity Oil Co. They ONLY make it for two sources. (1) Is Case-IH as HyTran Ultra and, (2) Is Cub Cadet as CC Hydraulic Transmission Fluid.

Since it is a patented formula, there is no way other can match it exactly. They can come close and that is about it.

I have friends that use other brands of fluid and change their fluids every one or so and they claim they have no problems. So I am wondering just how much they are saving if they are replacing the fluids so often. Sounds like it is costing them more in the long run.

You can put in what ever you want. It is your tractor(s).

I have never changed it in the O and I didn't ask Papaglide if he knew when or if it had been changed in the 127. I honestly don't know how many hours per year I'll put on them. I do plan on mowing regularly with the 127. But I would like to know what it has in it... I guess sorda like buying a car from a friend and not knowing when the last time the oil was changed.

Fowlkes has 5 gallons for $60.42.... just got off the phone.

Hytran is not synthetic. The trans fluid for the 2000 and 3000 series Cub Cadets is. They are not interchangeable.

Gary, I live in Galax, Va and the one in Wytheville does carry it and they are also a Case dealer so I'll bet you can get it in bulk.

cool... all this snow this week has threw a wrench in a lot of plans. Didn't realize how much a 5 year old in kindergarten and snow days/delays affects anymore. Guess I've been out too long now. Hopefully they will carry some gaskets too.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
