Work correctly and work the way I want are different things. CCC is concerned about liability in reverse, as such they limit the speed. I want to back out of a corner quickly and move on. However you are also correct in that things are worn and that there is plenty of lost motion because of it.
edit: This comment above is coming off snippy and that is not my intent as I value your comment. It's just that the reverse speed on the 3000 series is limited by design in my opinion. This can be frustrating when you are trying to get things done and move on. The wear of plastic bushings are a part of the problem in conjunction with the linkage design.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
