Trying to trace wiring on my friends Jerry Rigged 149 that he bought. When the battery wire is connected to the bat terminal on the voltage regulator & to the negative terminal of amp meter, Should there be 12 volts on the Gen. and/or field connections on regulator with those wires not connected to the terminals? Have a great color coded wiring diagram but there is little color on wiring in tractor. I believe I can do this with a little help every now and then.
Thanks in advance and have a great day. Bob |

The previous owner has done many crazy things to this tractor.
1. Put the wrong ignition switch on it that had 5 prongs. Then put the 3 wire end on it and evidently it would not run. Then hooked up a toggle switch that he mounted on the dash and some how got it to run. 2. Drive shaft had broken and he welded a pipe over it and was using it that way. Did not replace flex disc joint on rear at that time and it was in real bad shape. I have a new switch ordered and want to get rid of the toggle switch. I am trying to see if he has changed any other wiring. I would like to get it wired properly. My friend got it for cheap and I told him we would have to put some more money in it to get it sorted out. Drive shaft, front shaft hook up, and adjustable steering bolt on the way from Jeff Derstine. I am doing this to help me get through the winter. Any help appreciated. Thanks and have a great day Roland. Bob |

There are Wiring Diagrams in the Technical Library section for Tractors, on page 5.

Thanks Roland.
That is the wiring diagram I have been using. The wires on the tractor have lost their color and I am trying to trace them to see if they are wired up correctly. Have a great day. Bob |

The new ignition switch came in and I got it installed. Had been tracing the wiring with an ohm meter and hooked them up by the wiring diagram. Thanks to the wiring diagram in the Tec. section I had to reroute 2 wires to get the voltage where needed when needed. Hooked the fuel tank up and it fired right up. I was tickled. Still need to do a lot. Going to change the cork gasket between pump and rear end and a few other things. Thanks to Jeff for drive shaft and front drive shaft part and to the other members of this forum. Need to get with it as grass cutting season is near. Have a great day.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
