1440 PTO clicks but does not engage

Thanks Sam. I’ll send it back and get a different one. I hear a lot of good about those Extreme ones, but I don’t want to spend that much money on this tractor. It’s junk, and to me not worth the work it needs to make it nice. I just want to get another year or two out if it. I’ll try another used one.

If it will help any, recheck your connections at the PTO. While you mentioned you have 12v at the PTO and it is grounded, sometimes the contact/connection points might be compromised (example: dirty, paint on connection surface, etc.) that it's enough to render the PTO inoperable even if it worked for a moment.

Otherwise, just like others say, return the PTO for replacement.5

Good point, I didn’t think about that. I know the connections on the tractor side are clean, but I never checked the ones on the PTO side.

It was a bad PTO. My new one came in and I put it on and it worked perfectly. I put about 5 hours on it over the weekend with no issues. And the best part, this one was actually $15 cheaper than the first one.
