I ordered and installed a new switch on my father’s air compressor
It works , shutting off at 125psi. But it leaks off pressure until down to 80psi The instructions said nothing about the adjustment of the pressure springs. Can anyone here help provide some insight Thank you |

This should help. I believe this is for a water pump but should be just like your switch.

It sounds like you have a a faulty or dirty check valve or unloader valve (maybe both). That stuff is explained here.... https://tameson.com/pages/compressor-unloader-valves https://tameson.com/pages/check-valves |

Do you have a valve on your compressor to isolate it from any airlines or hoses that are connected. Perhaps the pressure in the tank lowers down due to leaks in the connections beyond the tank.
If you didn't have leak down before replacing the pressure switch and your instructions don't explain how to adjust the settings, you may be able to find more extensive instructions online for adjusting the switch to the desired on/off pressure settings. Next step would be to suspect the check valve. ![]() |

The unloaded portion of the pressure switch was leaking
After replacing the switch it shuts off at 125 then bleeds down to 80psi I was mistakenly assuming the problem was with my switch, once I changed focus to the check valve I now understand that the check valve is leaking allowing the pressure switch to bleed off pressure out of the tank instead of just relieving pressure in the pump. A new check valve is on order |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
