Default LT1050 slow speed

I have a LT1050 13AP11CP756. The deck was shot, so I found a 54" deck that lined up with the mounts and installed it after I welded up two small holes in it. I put on a new deck belt, drive belt, and tensioner spring, but it seems to go pretty slow, and at times it will almost stop and hardly want to go. I have put it in reverse, which reverse is just a crawl always, and then it will go. I ordered a new drive pully for the engine, and a new electric clutch. Do you think that this will help? When I removed things the clutch was very dirty and covered in oil. I did clean it completly before reinstalling, but I am not familiar with this model at all, just my old 127.

If you mean the engine is not bogging, just the tractor speed slows,
then it sounds like the drive belt may be slipping.
On the other hand you may have hydro issues.
Did you put on the correct drive belt, 954-0461...

Yes, it has the correct belt. It is even brand specific. I also have a LT1018. I am kind of a Cub Cadet junkie.

The electric clutch has nothing to do with the tractor motion, it only engages the mower deck.
Does it act the same whether the deck is engaged or not?
Does it seem to travel better when the hydro is cold,
then get worse as it warms up?

I think so. I have just started using it since installing the new belt and spring. It is the first mowing with this mower since I got it. I did a complete tune up and put new belts and the new deck on it as soon as I got it, as the original 50" deck was just too rusted to repair, but the engine runs great. I rebuilt my whole 127 Cub, to include the hydro. I am not sure how this one works with the whole belt deal. My other is shaft drive, and has a big ole solid rear end.

Would the hydrostatic rear end be the same in a LT1018 as in the LT1050? I have a LT1018 that I haven't had time to dig into yet. I am thinking that though it is a smaller engine and deck that I could swap out the hydro.

For what its worth....
Parts breakdowns for both tractors show that they MAY have the same tranny.
But that may depend on years for each model because other trannys were also available.
Your best bet is to look on the transmission housings for a barcoded sticker.
It should tell you the hydro model.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
