I just picked up this model 86:
![]() This is my second. I had a 1200 several years ago that was in great shape. I always regretted selling it, but I wanted other things at the time. This one came with a really nice 38" deck and is in great shape overall. I'm planning to use it with a snow blade and maybe gardening stuff down the road. Not really wanting to mow with it so if anyone wants to trade deck for a blade or sleeve hitch I'm game. I have a couple questions but I'll post in the general section. |

Thanks, it is in good shape. The seller told me it has been in storage since 1980. One thing I noticed right off is that the deck runners still looked like new. On the 44c I had on my 1200, which was still in good shape, they were nearly worn through on the bottom.

Thanks everyone. Mr. Diz, I like the look of yours (in your avatar). Ultimately I'd like mine set up the same. I think that rear blade would be useful too keeping my driveway in line.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
