Default QA42 lift question

seems like my lift arm is to short. i have an electric lift on my 147, i think i see where it attaches to the blower and where it attaches to the lift arm, but it seems to be to short. the dealer is pretty much useless, they dont know a whole lot. there is a guy there that used to work on IH cubs, but it was a long time ago.

if its usefull information the tractor that i bought the snowblower off of had manual lift

You could check it using the same guide on how to make one.

Default bought the qa42 online manual, still not sure about lift

one of the members said that my lift on my 147 was not stock/orginal. i have the service, parts, and qa42 manuals. seems like i have all of the nessary items. i have the lift rod and the bracket that attaches to the electric lift. my manuals confirmed that the lift is NOT an original setup. is it possible that when the prevous owner changed the lift assembly that the original dimesions were lost and that is why i cannot get the lift arm to work.i guess what im trying to say is that since he changed something, did that change the location of the bracket that the rod is supposed to go through. if thats true, i probably need to make a new rod? im discovering that the prevous owner made all kinds of unique changes to this tractor. it doesnt help me one bit. there is a pic in another thread that i posted of the lift assembly

Go thru the steps of the guide that I posted and go thru the steps to get the length of lift rod that you need. It doesn't matter if the rod is not original but it does matter if it's the correct length or not. With any changes the PO has done I don't think anyone will be able to just give you the size that it needs to be. Your just going to have to follow the guide and see what you need and check it with what you've got on there already. I don't think that anyone can give you the length of theirs and have it work for your setup due to the changes that the PO has made. Sorry no other way to do it but to follow the guide and get the length that you need. Keep us updated on your progress.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
