Default RPRU Shows

This is kind of like what to do for a PD.. But this year RPRU is down in Albert lea MN, and falls on my B-Day so I will be going. From the guys who attend these on a regular basis, what should I do to get ready ect? I plan on taking my O and 682 down.. How soon should reserve the hotel also?

I was wondering about rpru also. I hope to have at least one restored cub. But do many people bring nice original condition cubs too? I'd like to bring at least 2 tractors but don't want to bring one that's not a trailer queen if its gunna be the only non restored one there.

There are always plenty of un-restored Cubs and Farmalls there.

I would like to show my restored 2072. If for no other reason then to say that I did it.

The thing I am wondering is do you just show up the day before and drop it off and pick it up the day after?

Is it free to show it or do you have to pay a fee?

Do you have to register in advance or just show up?

While there is there a rope around the tractors so that people will not be climbing on and sating stuff on your tractor?

If there is a rope is that my responsibility to supply it?

Would it be sitting outside or would it be sitting in a shed or some sort of roof, in case there is bad weather?

I guess I just put a lot of work and money into the restoration and don't want to regret taking it to the show.

I know that you can not prodict the future but would like to know what others have ran into in the past.

Thanks guy

Josh

At RPRU '09, I showed up the second day of the show, registered on the spot. It was free for people displaying stuff. I think I was in a roped-off area, but that didn't stop people from coming in to get a closer look. I very nearly lost it when this knucklehead let his little kid climb all over my freshly-painted, very expensive restored 100. About 2 more seconds of that and the father would have gotten a rather large piece of my mind. You are probably on your own for weather protection. We had a canopy and brought tarps.

I'd love to make RPRU, but it's always too far away.

Nick,
There will be plenty of Cubs there that are not restored. I usually take one Cub Cadet that isn't restored to Red Power.

Josh,
Most of the time your Cub will be out in the open. It's your responsibility to supply the rope and canopy if you want your Cub rope/fence off. I will take a canopy with me and put my Cubs under it. Plan on spending time with your Cub if you put something around it.

I had a little kid take off with pedal tractor that was in my display.

To show at a Red Power Round Up you must be a member of International Harvester Collectors. The cost to join is $15 to the national group and $10 to $20 to the local group in your area. You do have belong to a local group to show at a Red Power show. The reason you have to belong to national group is for insurrance coverage. Most shows I go to require you to belong to their group because of insurrance reasons.

I will not be taking any Cub Cadets to this years show. It is a 500 to 600 mile trip one way for me. Suburban gets 8 to 10 miles per gallon when pulling trailer. I will spending most of my time in the chapter tables building passing out infomation on Red Power Round Up 2013 since I'm one of the co-chairs of that show.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
