I just bought a 1782 SGT, the prior owner has taken the exhaust and turned it up straight, that leaves the right side panel with a open hole, my quiestion is what (if any) engine cover can I get to replace the original that would cover up the opening from the original exhaust.
I'll try to post pics as soon as I can find my camera. Mike

I would turn the tractor back to the original way and get rid of the straight pipes.

Mike, I think the hood and side panels are the same on a SGT but the venting is different on the water cooled. The right side panel was still available for my 2182 from what the CC parts look-up said. Do you not want o turn the pipe to the original position?

I'm not sure, it looks pretty good the way it is, and if I turn back to original I'll have to buy a factory muffler to put back on it. the one on it now is an aftermarket even if I turn it it will not fill the opening.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
