WD40 containts hexane (50% of WD40 is hexane!), which is similar to kerosene, so although it isn't exactly liquid kerosene, it is darn close. And the oil that the hexane drags into the tiny crevaces is just mineral oil, which if the labels on all these freakin' bottles in my house are telling the truth, that's baby oil without the fragrance! So WD 40 basically contains hexane and a light oil. Ont he other hand, PB Blaster contains some type of hydrocarbon, although they just list it as a Naphtha solvent...which is really broad, and can mean a lot of things, BUT it contains both a light oil, like mineral oil, and also a heavy oil. So my guess is the reason the PB blaster works better, is because it contains that heavy oil too. WD-40 is a penetrating oil, but in my opinion, and from a lot of reviews I have read, it doesn't not work as well as PB Blaster. But on the other hand, WD40 did make my shower door stop squeaking the other morning, so it was worth its weight in gold at that moment.
