Hopefully someone has had the same problem. The Plastic hood and side panels are finally to far gone to save on my 1541. Do the plastic parts from say an 1864 fit the 1541. I have never been able to get a dealer to tell me for sure one way or the other.
Thanks |

They're the same. They changed the vent style at some point, but otherwise they're identical.

Just and update. The newer style plastic parts fit perfectly and look great. Dang expensive. Matt, thanks as usual for sharing your knowledge.

My 1864 ones are decent, a few pins broken but stay in place fine. The 2084 needs some work or replacement.

My Cyclops plastic has about met it's match. I have fiber glassed and pinned and patched until there is no more room for any work. Spring time I will be retro fitting my 1641 with all the fixins off of an 82 series machine. Have all the parts to do the conversion just need warm weather. It is pretty much a winter only use machine anyways.

Dave,
I ended up buying new, over $700. The used ones cost up to 80% of new. My hood just fell apart this winter. The mounting areas on the nose broke off. My old side panels are actually in decent shape, but I was afraid that they were getting brittle as well. I plan on keeping this thing for at least 10 more years. I thought about the 82 series fix, but I really like the way the cyclops tractor looks. I did realize this week that these things can become an obsession. I actually spent some time thinking about putting HID lights on it. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
