I know they do.... I could use several choice words about my "dealer" but I prefer to be family friendly... Why they sell CC, I honestly don't know... they don't care about supporting them, I had to go to another dealer for a warranty issue. Everyone loves their Sthil support, too bad I like husky saws...

I'm only about 30 minutes from Wytheville, I'm in-between Princeton/Bluefield... Folks is where I ended up getting my Hy-tran. I should have just got everything there at the time... They are a nice bunch. When I went there they asked me what made me come down and apparently word of mouth travels.... they already had heard some stories.... I was just trying to be nice and stay "local". I'm heading to blacksburg on Saturday so I may just go down I-81 instead of 460 and swing by that way again.

Gary that sucks. I always try to support the local guys too but when they do some crap like this it's time to find another dealer. My local dealer let his cub dealership go back and he's back to farming so looks like I'll be ordering from our sponsers.

That sucks, hopefully he let it go back on his own terms... I picked up a coil and condenser local from a mom/pop lawn and garden repair place, but other than that everything has came from members on OCC and sponsors... I'm just the type that hates waiting. I'll pounce on the UPS guy.

Duke, if you get in a bind and need a part fast call Hickory Home and Garden in Hickory. Their parts dept is very good and they have never let me down. There is an older guy that works there, David I believe, and he knows cubs pretty good. Very friendly people. Ordered parts come in fast as they order a lot so there is no charge unless you want it next day. They are on 321 about 2 miles off I40.

I know the feeling, I see them coming and head out the door. They don't even have to get out of the truck

Gary,

(continued from page 2)............I think the big picture to this problem is that CC has cross referenced the part #'s and it is a lot of work for the dealer to look up the older IH cub part #'s, or maybe not a lot of work but requires some knowledge & savvy that your local dealer might not have. Also, you aren't a "big ticket item" buyer from them and they probably don't value "every customer" like they should. If you went in there and ordered a new $8000 mower or something like that, then I'm sure they would roll out the red carpet for you!!!! So, if you aren't a big ticket customer, then it sounds like they are trying to make you into one through their own price inflation. I know that it probably leaves a bad taste in your mouth, but I hope that it doesn't ruin you for other local merchants who rely on the support of the community to stay in business. Well.....that's my take on it. Thank goodness the whole world doesn't operate that way!! Lots of Luck!!

On the contrary, I'll always try to support the local "small" guy whenever possible. Like I mentioned I worked for a mom and pop computer store all through college. We were actually a great business with a good reputation, however, once wallyworld got more into PCs and Staples came to down... well... You can guess what happened.

There is a mom and pop hardware store that is a Rockler affiliate and those guys are about the coolest spot around for me. They carry about 30 brands of power tools (delta, powermatic, fein, steel city.......). Stuff Lowe's and HD has never even heard of. I'll gave them a lot of business and always will.

As far as my CC dealer goes, I asked last year and I was one of 8 people to buy a CC from him, and 1 of 3 to buy a 2500 series. He's only ever sold 1 3000 series since they have carried CC. Their big thing is if you don't buy Stihl you're nothing. A $4000 GT isn't anything compared to a $400 chainsaw??? Plus there is just a general overall lack of knowledge. Also as mentioned, he never had a clue that IH owned CC...

Great to know that Chip! Thanks for the heads up! The sad part is he was raised on cubs. His store had a pic of him on his dads 70. He was only 4 at the time.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
