Default Gonna have to hang it up with the Cubs for awhile

My 1200 is smoking so bad that in the time to push my driveway open this winter(25 minutes) it needed 3/4 qt of oil added. It has all kinds of power, but stinks so bad and consumes oil, so I decided to park it. I am afraid that when I park it,I wont get back to it for a loooong time. Luckily, I have a new shed and it will be inside in the dry. I plan to empty the gas and maybe lift it up off the ground so the tires wont be on the ground. At this point,my wife is still in school and we are living on my income as well as her unemployment which is 1/2 of what she was bringing home when she was working. I am lucky enough that we can make ends meet on my pay but there sure isn't any extra. I am considering selling my brinly plow and the hitch so maybe I could get a good 12 hp or 14 hp motor, but there seems to be no good used ones near by. Maybe when Deanna gets back to work,I can finally get a good motor if not before. I will still check out this site as there is alot of good people on here and good suggestions. At least I will be able to mow the yard with the Cub 1042 this summer..

For sure keep checking in, sorry to hear about your motor....hope you both get through things and you keep your cub. Even if it takes a year or so to get it running again - it will be WELL worth it in the end!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
