Default What year is a model 72?

I found a nice clean little 72 the other day. Been parked for a while inside, black koler engine, ags on rear, no fenders, was a pull start originally but has a starter/gen now. Deck looked good and overall just a clean little tractor. It was kind of dark and had normal dust so no more info. PO used it to mow, just got tired of having to bring it in for the normal tinkering and traded it for something newer. I am betting someone around here has seen it before. Just not sure what year they made um and wondered what they have been bringing. I don't really want one, if I get another cub it should be a running 1x9 to match what I have to get going, but y'all know how that, I don't really WANT it, thing.

Thank you sir, I was thinking it was in that range but couldn't find the chart I was looking for. With the pan seat it just looks older at a glance. The 109 I have seems like a "newer" model. I mean, it is newer, by three or four years.

OK, does a black replacement engine hurt/help/ or no difference on prices these have been bringing? I know from a user standpoint the newer engine is a plus, but does it bring down the price from a collector standpoint. Also, how many pull starts were around, can you find parts for that system, and would you want to go back to that since it was originally a pull start? So many questions, so little knowledge.

Why, yes it did! I had a feeling someone might have seen it. Since I am not in the market for any more cubs at this time I didn't really try to deal on it. I need to get the two I have going before stepping out for more, sure is a nice looking unit though.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
