Default off brand question
i scored this nice 60 something sears super 12 today. it has a hand assist 3 point hitch, but no toys came with it. it has a tecumseh engine and i am needing a carb for it. i thought about making an adapter for a kohler carb and installing it on there but the inlet is smaller on the tecumseh and i figure the kohler carb would literally drown the engine. where would be the best place to look for a carb? epay doesn't have any. so i am kinda lost since it's not a cub, a dear 'ol cub!!! anybody have a clue??? thanks, jeff

I'll bet you can still get parts for it from Sears. Might try looking there.

Possible Carb?

I have several of those tractors.The original carburator is a LME.I bought replacement carbs for around $120.00.You have to remove the tin plate between carb & engine block.The new carb comes with a replacement aluminum plate and screw in bolts.Needless to say you have to remove original carb studs from block.The new carbs work ok,but the air breather will set real close to the spark plug wire.Also the new carb is not threaded to accept the glass sediment bowl filter.I would replace with original LME carb if i could find one on ebay.The new style would be if it was my only choice.Sears parts direct have the new style carbs.Hope this helps!.

thanks dx3, thats not the carb. this carb resembles a walboro (spell??) carb. it has absolutely NO adjustment screws anywhere. i posted on another antique GT forum so maybe someone there will hook me up. the differences in this GT and cubs is like day and night. LOL i can't understand why any manufactors would run a belt to drive a tractor??? but it's not for me to worry. haha thanks, jeff

here is the carb. looking at it from the fuel intake side. it has LME with the number 34 over the letters. to the right of that it has 5-250 with a number 2 above those numbers. on the opposite side, it has 1-84 up near where the choke goes in the carb. jeff

Jeff what is wrong with that carb? Does not look like anything is broken on it. I would go down to the auto store and buy a gallon pail of carb clean and let it soak for a couple days. Then blow it out real good with compressed air. Maybe you can get it to work. Just a thought. Kelly

actually there is nothing wrong with it, the PO just left it in the carb cleaner to long and it looks like it has been sand blasted. i got out and messed with it this morning and the protrusion where the bowl mounts on is very detiorated pretty bad. i was told that a kohler carb from a 7-8 hp motor would work. i'd rather have my wife sit on the front and spray starter fluid in it than have a walbro carb. so i maybe looking for one!!!!! jeff
