If you install google tool bar, it has a search box with a pull down menu and you can select "search this site" and it does a great job on any site you are looking at. I use it all the time, hardly ever use any sites search options.

Just an option you may want to try

I agree with Chip, thats probably the best way to search a forum like this. I think this is actually a software thing, and its not necessarily a problem, or non existent on many forums. The problem is the number of letters or numbers being searched, I've found that typically 4 to 5 letter words or number sequences are the minimum on most forums, and numbers are particularly hard for some reason. As an example If I go to any one of my gun forums and type in .308 I get the same answer on all of them...no results, but if I type in Ruger, or Winchester...whammo...tons of results. Make sense...I'm no expert, but I think its just the way the software is designed

I think this is correct.

I use Google for searches every day in my business. Google is good at providing 50,000 hits in .3 seconds.....BUT....I have to wade through tons of useless information until I can find what I really want. They throw too wide of a net.

Im glad we all learned something new about the software. It has to be written to work, and it only works as it was programmed. I feel I have said that before. LOL I had no gripe about it, just added to the post, as I could not get it to work for me.

UPDATE...

The "minimum" character length for this software is "4". This means, you have to have a minimum of 4 characters for a valid search to begin. Anything less will produce a "no match" pop up.

UPDATE #2

I tried "Cub 104" and came up with nothing. Both Cub and 104 were less than 4 characters.

I tried "Cub Cadet 104" and came up with tons of hits.

At least one word in the box, has to be 4 or more characters to have a successful search.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
