Cub 100 pto problem

I have a question a about the pto on my model 100 cub cadet. When I got the tractor it had a Wide Frame pto on it instead of the narrow frame one.

Is there a physical size difference in the 2 or any reason why the wide frame will not work. The reason I ask is I am having a heck of a time getting the thing to work correctly. It keeps chewing up buttons when trying to turn off the deck. I have determined the button is hitting the three triangle tabs that are held down by the bolts and ripping it up.

If its not he pto type I cannot for the life of me figure out what is going on. As it is now I can engage the blades at will with it running but when its time to turn off the pto I have to turn the engine off and disengage the pto. If I do this it works perfectly.

The button as of now is new, replaced the button on the pto as well. Adjusted as per the little tool. Any ideas would be great.
