My cam knob for the deck height adjustment on my IH CC 1000 appeared to have not been loosened for years, and I couldn't get it loose, even with a strap wrench.
I soaked it with PB Blaster for a few days, and yesterday it came loose by hand. Thumbs up from me. Josh P |

PB is a good off the shelf product for the price. When you are working at a shop that foots the bill, get a can of aero-kroil. It's like a rocket fuel high octane version of PB but it's expensive. I used to work for a turbocharger manufacturer and the guys in the repair department encountered some nasty rusted together iron parts. They swore by the stuff.
Also we had bits for die grinders that were just a slotted mandrel. They were for inserting a strip of scotch-brite. A toot of aero-kroil and one of those die grinders with a scotch brite bit would take an old rusty hunk and shine it up real nice with little effort.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
