Default New from Illinois

Hi all, I am new here and am having a few problems with a mid 60's Cub 122. I am a retiree who works on small engines to supplement social security. I need to know how to remove the pto and starter generator pulleys so I can replace a leaking front oil seal.

Love the 122 would love to see pics of yours!

Once you get the front pto the rest will be pretty easy. Here's the link to the mechancial pto. You'll have to soak the set screws in PB Blaster and don't forget there are 2 sets of pto set screws in each hole.

Thank you for the info. I would have been out of my mind if you had not told me about the two set screws in each hole. I had removed the first set and could not understand why the pto would not come off.

Your welcome! You wouldn't been the first person to have done that nor the last.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
