Default Couple of Original questions

Does anyone know the size of the oil seal in the rear-end bearing retainer? I was hoping to be able to find them at a local parts store instead of by mail. Also, if I was going to hook up a charge indicator gauge on an Original, where do the wires need to hookup? I have a nice IH gauge and will make a bracket to put on the tractor. Thanks for the help, Mike

Here is the Wiring Diagram for the optional Amp Gauge for the 70/100 Series which would be the same for the CCO.

I'm assuming you mean the rear axle seals? I just did mine, they're a NAPA 10049. About $9 a piece.

Yes, it is for the rear axles. That and the wiring information is what I needed. Thanks for the help. When I get off of sick leave, I can get back to work on mine.

I have a question about the seal as well, i just pulled mine out, does the one from napa come with the metal casing around it? or do you pull out the old rubber piece and replace just that piece? I damaged the metal piece that holds the rubber and the spring.

It comes with the metal piece. You need to get all of the old seal out. I used a big seal puller and they still put up a pretty good fight. You have to be careful when you drive the new seals in. There is no lip in the casting to keep you from driving the seal the entire way through the bearing retainer.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
