782 Restoration
Here are some pics so far of my son's 4 H project. I have owned this for a couple of years, when a major oil leak, and a valve problem shut her down, causing me to spend big money on a machine the whole family could easily run (i.e. not old). Hope to finish this in a couple of weeks for the County Fair in July.
The first picture is from when I traded my red one with 800 hours and a cracked block for this one, with 400 hours. Then stripped down to the frame. We sprayed Primer, and started on some other pieces. Hope to do some finish sanding tonight and get more body parts painted. Time with the kids is always fun. Doing what you love with them is even more!

What sort of 4H club branch do you have to have to rebuild Cub cadets? All the local 4H clubs here in TX seem to do is raise animals....If they were into fixing stuff and tractor pulling I'd volunteer to help out!
Cub is looking good, and great to do it with the kids. They will remember it for a long, long time.

Quietlines and narrow frames, mostly projects but I mow with a 1200 and have a 122 set up for pulls. Wandering the country bringing towers to wind farms everywhere, and bringing yellow stuff home to Texas. Also into flatfender jeeps.

Not much going on now, but thanks for the interest! I had to fix a broken window in the basement, plus a couple other issues related to snakes getting into our old farmhouse basement. Work is keeping me away form it for a few more days, but hope to get back to it soon. We did paint the grill, but otherwise, nothing more.

Finally, we caught a couple of hours to do more painting. It's flat out amazing how much time paint work takes when you want to get it right. It's hotter than heck here, so the paint was drying quickly.
We also picked up a 50C deck for it in a trade for our 44 inch deck. Thanks for the interest in our project!!!!

That is absolutely correct. When I'm doing paintwork, at some point I just have to raise the white flag and say "Okay, that's enough, this is a tractor not a '69 Camaro." You could sand and prep endlessly on some parts. The good news is, a paint job done right will look so much better and last for a long time. I really look forward to more updates on this machine. This is what my 882 will have to go through at some point in the near future. I can't bring myself to knock it out of service just yet, but the issue may be forced on me sooner than later. My water pump/alternator belt has stretched out so far that I may be pulling the engine before long, and at that point I may as well do the resto.
