Hi, wanted to introduce myself to everyone on the forum. I have recently been diagnosed with a severe case of yellow and white fever, sometimes red even! Good thing is I'm in excellent company on this forum
![]() Actually I sorta already had red fever being a Massey Ferguson guy ![]() I recently rescued a 1572 for which I will make another thread about when my pictures are finished uploading. I don't have a riding mower and had been on the lookout for something 'interesting' and when it popped up I jumped on the chance. I do have a small NOMA rider that I rescued from a neighbor that had no mowing deck. I brought that back to life and clipped off all the unneeded mowing stuff (lots of plastic) and dropped a 2" ball on the back. ![]() It hauls our woodsplitter, trailers of all sizes, but not much else, even though it's a more "heavy duty" unit it's still a lightweight compared to the yellow stuff I have been looking at. It also guzzles gas like no tomorrow, having a B&S Vanguard Twin. I painted the wheels to give it a fresh look. Mechanically it's OK, but has the worst hydro whine ever, sounds like it's on deaths door. I did refill the transmission with some oil but that hasn't helped. These machines aren't anything special, don't last, have no parts support really and good luck even getting a manual. Long term outlook is not good! However I did learn quite a bit in tearing it all down and putting it back together and getting it running in good shape. Since mid-April have put about 30 hours on it. So I sorta cut my teeth on it, was a stepping stone to the 1572 - quite a big one! But.. I've been looking for an excuse to get rid of it, and since I stumbled on the 1572 that was it, game over for the NOMA. I was thinking of returning it to my neighbor, whose brother had initially wanted it for his cottage, but never came and picked it up. So I thought it would be nice to give it back in perfect running condition. It was a real mess before, carb gummed up, mouse nests everywhere, flat tires, etc etc. Looks like a great group here and in a week I have been lurking have absorbed quite a bit of info. Watch out for my 1572 thread! John |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
