I was at the cub dealer today to buy a kawasaki string trimmer and I noticed they just got in a GT2000 with fabricated 48" deck. Very nice quality for the price. She made the comment that there's some gas in it. That's all she needed to say. I got on it and fired it up and tested it out. Very nice sturdy frame. The manual steering was very easy. I fell in love. Much better builld quality than my parents new POS GT1554. My wife (chief financial officer) was with me and she really liked it. She told me i could get it maybe this fall.

ya, the steering on my 2544 is really nice, especially since I put x-tracs on the front. Poor man power steering. I have heard some people say that CC recalled all the new 2000 series with power steering (electric). My dealer still hasn't got any in and selling '09/'10 25XX series at full retail!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
