Diz Jr.,

I looked over this man's offerings and learned there is a difference between 6-12's and 6.00-12's. I find this and all correct information valuable. This man is in line to get some of my money now. Thanks again for the information. It all goes to making a better Cub.

And if you have any other sources like this please send me the info or post it.

"READ BEFORE BUYING! If you are looking at buying 23X10.50-12 lug tires there are three molds out there..."

The link on page one of this thread for the Tracmaster tire would indicate there is a fourth mold out there. That link is for a 24X12X12, but they also list a 23X10.50X12. I like the look of that tread. Is anybody running those? How do you like them?

Those tracmasters are made by OTR wheel engineering in Georgia. They have a number of different tire sizes that will fit 12" wheels. 26x12, 25x12, 25x11, 25x10, 24x12, 23x10.50 and 23x8.50 and at least 4 different tread patterns

Im pretty sure the quote from Morrow tires was in regards to the 3 brand of ag tires they sell and didn't mean there were only three manufacturers.

I'm not so sure. I'm finding that Chen-Shin tires and Denman Farmhand R-2 tires look pretty much like the Tracmasters, just like Morrow was explaining about the Nanco and Deestone tires. I think Morrow was simply explaining that there are only a few molds for garden tractor ag tires and different manufacturers buy the molds and make their tires with them, just changing the brand stamp in the mold. Having had a little experience with a tire manufacturer (a friend owned a plant), I would imagine each manufacturer has his own rubber compound forumulation, so there might be some difference in the tires outside of the tread design, ie softer or harder rubber or ply rating. I couldn't say for sure, though.

There are probably large quality differences too. NANCO tires seem to weather-check very quickly in my experience...they rot out long before they wear out.

I run 23 x 10.5 x 12 ags on my 1450 for mowing the lawn. I have the same size turf but they spin on the hills. I like the 23 x 8.5 x 12 ags for blade and garden work since they dig more.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
