Default Carb issuses

I have a Mag 18 on my 1810 it has great power, but the carb is giving me a fit with the float sticking open or fuel pump having too much pressure or something. I rebuilt the carb and it does fine for about an hour and a half of constant mowing then it will flood itself out. Saturday it was so bad you could see the gas in the elbow under the air filter and in the right hand cylinder (if you are sitting in the seat looking forward). Any kind of help guys and girls?
You can send me a email jolleye@msn.com or a PM here thanks

Just a thought when you rebuilt the carb did you look at the tab that the needle valve rides on. I believe if there is a large enough dimple on it it can obstruct the movement of the float.

I think it's the float or seat. I bypassed the fuel pump on mine and have put 10 hours on it and had no problems with it. I make sure the fuel level is above the carb. My fuel pump leaked gas into the crankcase and about destroyed my engine.

My carb done that before I rebuilt it. it mangaged to let about a whole tank of gas go into the motor. I could smell the gas walking up to it.

Look up my thread "I despise walbro's" in this section and you'll find your answer. The float on your carb is non adjustable. The float seat is likely worn and cannot be replaced.

Did you get your carb fixed or are you going to try and replace it.

The float on the Walbros IS adjustable. You can check your settings for the float with the engine manual. It's probably carb related. I have had a bad fuel pump that was letting fuel gravity leak into the cylinders but that was with the engine off. I kept using the pump and just put a shutoff between it and the carb.

I always install an easily reached fuel shut off valve on equipment.
At the end of a work session , I cut off the fuel and let the engine
run out of fuel at idle , which keeps the carb un-residued , and reduces
the chance of filling the crank case with fuel.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
