Default What to change on Clutch of 124

HELLO ALL,

I am preparing to take the engine out of the 124 to gain access to a full clutch replacement.

I am trying to make the clutch and the brakes work like they are supposed to .

What items should I replace to make this thing as close to new as possible.

Is the OEM stuff ok or do I need a new rig?

My son who is 8 will be helping to plow this winter so I am trying to make this right for him.

Many Thanks,

Roy

Roy unless you are going to be using your 124 as a puller the stock disk will be fine. Check the condition of your teaser spring, throw out bearing, and the 3 pin driver and bushing. Depending on condition the return spring might need to be replaced.

My soon to be 8 yr old loves to get seat time on his 125! This is a great hobby for the whole family!

Default clutch

Duke is right, that is all you need, if you son is only 8, he would never be able to push in the clutch on Millers set up.

The clutch is rattling terribly.
The teaser looks broken and the clutch is going to the floor almost before engaging..
The adjustment knob is out as far as it can go.

If my son is going to drive it I need it safe and back to factory.

Cheers,
Roy

Roy, it's not to bad of a fix when you get the engine out, makes life alot easier. If it were me, I'de replace everything except the disc's if there in good condition, ie not rusted or groved, and if they are, you can take them to a machine shop and have them turned, as I did.
Replace it all that you have it apart, and look at the service manual for adjustments.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
