Okay diesel owners, I got a question. I received my new parts for the driveline replacement on my 882 and there is something not correct with mine. The original engine to ragjoint flange has 3 bolts that bolt to the crankshaft. The ragjoint uses 4 bolts and this causes one of the bolt heads to be back to back and not have proper clearence. The red and blue lines added to the first pic are how the ragjoint bolts line up. The blue line is how the shaft coupler lines up and the bolt at the 10 oclock position is where the problem is.
The next four pics are the problem bolt at 12-3-6-9 oclock postions. There seems to be an angular alignment problem with the engine to hydro input shaft. At 12 oclock there is a gap, 3 & 9 not much if any and it hits at 6. I remember Matt G had the same problems with his diesels and I wanted to see what yours is doing. I would like to correct this problem but may not be able to if it is an angular and or elevation problem. Thanks.

I will go out and look at mine in a bit, but what about shimming the disks out a bit further at these two spots?

Thanks DX, I don't think there is enough clearence for the steering column. I was thinking about that too.

Well mine looks just like yours, bolt head to bolt head. I don't have a very good shot, but can see very little difference in them.

I'm thinking this is a design flaw. I don't think it would have been a problem if they used a four bolt drive cup. Is the one bolt head worn on yours also?

It's a design flaw. Mine did that too so I took the one bolt to a grinder and shaved off of the bolt head a little so they would just barely touch and not actually hit each other that hard. I think Matt mentioned shaving one down also. Poor design.

I wish I had thought of that...probably would have worked good for the 3 bolts that connect the coupler to the engine pulley.
BTW, they couldn't use a 4-bolt drive cup without changing the pulley on the engine...they likely used what the engine came with, and everybody overlooked the contact between the bolt heads. |

Looks like the driveline is also not aligned. Can it be or should I just replace the parts and be happy with that.....that's gonna bother me.
