Well Methos, that will teach you to buy a high HP machine!! The 10HP 1000 I just bought has great looking mounts in it compared to those. I figure it is due to your heavy engine!!

I am interested in seeing photos, as I may want to replace mine before they look like that.

Was the engine compartment "oily"?? I would think the only way those bushings could flatten that much is if the bushings were degraded by oil.

When I got the 1000, the compartment was dirty, but, amazingly, no oil. Therefore I think that is why my bushings are still "up".

??

There is oil but not to bad. It was restored umm repainted a couple of years ago. Before I had this motor rebuilt the 10hp smoked bad! It smoked so bad if I took a lap around the back yard the smoke would still be lingering there a lap later! I didn't have to worry about any bugs when I was using it.

The ISO mounts are designed to wear out owners just have to do their part and maintain their cub. I'm sure oil does effect the life span of the mounts but how much for having oil covered on the outsides of them, that would take someone smarter then me to answer that.

Todays update!

After my little road trip I got the front axle and engine back in. I need to finish the wiring and adjust the govener and put the grill and tins back on it. I'll take it for s spin before I wash it and take some pics to get it listed for sale. I didn't get any pics of todays work but will get some tomorrow.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
