thanks guys for all the comments!!!! i actually got the AC for the big motor, looking JUST at the drive line components, i personally think the CC's are better built than the AC's. now, granted this is my first AC, so i don't want a heated debate going on, LOL. the AC has an aluminum rear and SOOOOO many belts as where my cubs have direct drive drive shafts to a cast iron rear end. with that said, i have come to realize that a kohler k motor is built to last and that is probably why they don't make them anymore. it's hard to make money on 2 dollar parts every once in a while versus an aluminum motor that has to be replaced every 2-5 years. to remove the balance gears, does the the crank have to be removed first?? i see no obvious damage inside, but i still don't want the BG's in there!!!!! thanks guys!!! jeff

Try pulling the pan off, then knock them between the teeth with a chisel and a hammer. Or just over rev and put them through the block like I did :/ if they don't break with the chisel, ya you gotta pull the crank
