i set them up according to the fsm. im just going to go ahead and pull the engine. my fan is broken on the drive shaft, and i noticed tonight that the dowel pin in the front side of the drive shaft is broken and its only hanging on by one side... plus there is a nasty oil leak on the engine, and its a greasy mess. i guess ill be starting my winter project early then i thought.

The manual is correct, so follow that, then rotate the whole thing CW a bit, then rotate the shaft further CCW. That should help. I forgot to ask, do you have the correct governor spring in the correct holes? That will also make a difference...
