It's obvious you have a Super diesel but your serial number doesn't seem right. From the paperwork/files I'm looking at, that serial number seems too early for the 1572. Maybe Myron can chime in here. What's the model number/machine code info on the date tag on the frame? By the way if you need any parts that show a Kubota part number make sure you get them from a Kubota dealer, you'll save a ton of money.

Julo wrote on the IH 782 Manuel, that he purchased it on April 3, 1986.
Just putting that out there.

He also wrote 589 above everything. I'm not sure what that ment???
I dont know if that's important

Thanks
Cody

AGitch: Cody has a photo of the data plate posted....

Cody, the Data Plate doesn't lie. 149711100 is a 1989 Model 1772.

149 = Garden or Super Garden Tractor built in 1989
711 = factory code for a 1772
100 = sold by a Cub Cadet Dealer.

The Serial number 787251 falls within the range of 1989 Serial numbers 779,097-799,99.

I don't know about what's written in the manual but this unit was not purchased in 1986, three years before it was manufactured.

Default Questions about my 1772D

Yall know what. I think I could have saved us ALOT of problems. If I just would have looked threw my papers, I would have found out that wnen it got stollen, that it never was found. I knew that the 782 was stolen from his shed in '89.

He then bought this Current Cub Cadet 1772 on 4/1/89 with a Kubota D640 B Engine, Originally she had a 50GT mowing deck. Then another in 93, Then yet another in 98. I find that last number to be amazing. In 98 he wrote that he bought a new deck, but in 01 he bought a whole new lawnmower, my TG 1860-D.

I have a folder for all the paperwork. It's Blue, with a white section at the Top with Cub Cadet in Blue.
I have the:
  • Owners Manuel for the 1772.
  • One for a 44GT/50GT Deck, with Model Numbers 358 & 359.
  • Another manuel for an Older 50 GT Mower, this one is from 93.
  • A options guide, i guess, It has Buy with Confidence From Cub Cadet. It's pretty cool. Shows all the accessories availible for her.
  • An Attachment guide, which is cool
  • An Approved Allied Equipment book, It shows all the blades, front end loaders, sickle mowers, 3pt mowers, Cabs, Baggers, Carts, Rollers, Lawn Sweep, Tiller, and a trailer to move the mower.
I think I'd really like to get the attachments in Bold. Just wonder where I can get them. I'm going to see if Cub Cadet still makes them, not necessarily the old one, but a newer equivilent.
I'd also like to get a Front end Blade, to do some dirt work.

Thank you Matt G., Myron, aagitch,CMA's129, And all others for helping me over come my stupidity for not looking in the rest of My Manuel Section.
Cody

Cody sometimes our excitement gets us going so fast we forget to slow down. You have a nice collection of info for your cub. If you get a FEL (front end loader) you have no need for a front blade. The FEL will cost the most of the attachments but oh they are so much fun! Welcome to the addiction that is cubs!

Yea, I know I wouldn't need it, But I'd still be nice to have. That way if I only need to rearange and not pick up. I can just do that

Yea, I also know that I get way to excited. It happens to me all the time.

What I'd acually like to do, is build one my self. I'm going to be taking ABC Welding next year, so i'd like to do that for my "Project". Over the summer, I plan on getting together with 2 of my buds from school, and building a 3pt housing, I'll buy the arms, and all the other components, but I Think it would be cool to do that. I'll compare the price to make one, vs. the price to buy it.

I'm also hoping that I can convert on of my Mules, as I have a brand new one, into a holding device for a blade, so i'll only need to find a actuall blade, and we will fab up the monting pieces, or if it's cheaper to buy one, I'll just do that. I'll come down to availivility, and how Over complex i'm going to design it to be.

Does anybody know if Cub Cadet still makes the Rollers, or any body really. I think i've seen them on sites, but really havn't seen any on this one. just curious.

I'm going get the Cub tonight from the Camp. I fixed it yesterday. She works Great now. No leaks at all. I'll pressure wash her one more time, and hopefully I can get my mom to pick up some Hydro oil tomorrow, there is a dealer near her work.

So she'll be good as new.

Thanks
Cody

That's what i get for walking away from the puter while in the middle of the post. You posted a nice pic of the dataplate while I was asking about it. It's cool you've got a 1772. You'll love the smokers.

Ok, I've gotten her all changed, and Oiled. I put 2 quarts of Hydro oil in. Besides pouring it threw the little dipstick whole, where are you sposed to put it in. Because that toook FOREVER. Just to know for next time.

I've got a question. Does anything sound wrong, or look wrong on her. Her's a pic of her starting up. Is it normal to have to spinn for like 2 seconds, then startbringing the trottle up, before she starts, she'll smoke while turning over, then after about a second, she's fine. My dad says that she's ideling Way to high, does that sound to hi, or just right. I'm assuming it's right, because it was just overhauled.

I rode her around the yard after I added some Hydro oil. I've never heard it before, it's almost whining. It's not real loud, but only at full throtle, and full spead. It's not big, and don't have a vid of that. But here's the vid. I'll uploading it up now.

Thanks for all the answers
Cody

Cody: There is a start procedure in your Operator's Manual.

1) Move throttle to the Start/Idle Position (the turtle). Never start at full throttle.

2) Turn Key to the left (you will hear the fuel pump buzzing) and wait till you hear the Glo-Plug indicator "click" (meaning that the Glo-Plugs are hot).

3) Turn Key all the way right to the start position and crank the engine till it starts. Yes you will get some white smoke initially and then perhaps a big ole puff of black smoke as the the engine starts to run. That's just a Diesel.

4) Throttle should remain at the Idle position for aproximately 5 minutes for proper engine wrm up (so says my 782D manual).

A little bit of white smoke from a diesel at startup is normal, but it runs and blows white smoke that normally means low compression. Excessive black smoke could mean to much fuel, weak turbo if equiped, or a dirty air filter. Blus smoke means oil.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
