I think the narrow front was optional for any of 10 series which included the 20 thru 50.
and yes we had 'two' digit phone numbers, Mom ran the phone office and I often operated the switch board after school when I wasnt at Pops shop or delivering the newspaper.... I wonder how many 12 yr old kids today actually work after school.... OMG

Lance I can only echo what a lot have said previously, that is a nice tractor. Anything you see here in central IL (unrestored) usually has the front grill beat to death, which it appears the loader saved yours.
My grandfather (southwestern MN) had a Cockshutt 35 with a Schwartz WF that was the cattle lot feed bunk tractor. It also had a Koyker quick-tach loader on it that would be used to clean the feedlot. That machine was the most dependable workhorse in all sorts of weather. When he finally retired it to "light duty" switching over to an Oliver 880, the 35 became the grandkids' tractor and the one I used to move hogs from building to building. I loved that machine and would love to find it and acquire it. Funny story, in the late-70s, grandpa was trying to get it repainted original colors. There was some "mis-communication" between he and the painter and the tractor came home Oliver green and white instead. Yes, grandpa was furious but the painter said he had marked down he wanted it this way. Grandpa said "no, we only talked about the merger in small talk." Yes the man got paid because that is just the way my grandfather was, but some other items got severely discounted later on.

A 35 would be nice have, I was talking to a gent at the show here a few weeks ago about his 35 Deluxe, apparently there wasnt many built so they're hard to find now.
Im gonna keep my options open for now, I'll go look at the 40 tomorrow and maybe pick it up, and then advertise that I would trade down to a 30, or even a 35. I'd like a smaller model mostly because it would be lighter and easier to transport to shows but also because I could use it more around the yard, on the other hand a 50 with a fel will be a good snow mover and it wont be too long until we see the white stuff.

Got the right front aired up and took the bucket off the loader today, then pulled the 50 closer to the shop with the 154 Loboy(with the wife at the wheel), pulled the oil plug and let the water/oil drain, its been sitting with no gas cap so that wasnt a surprise. I'll flush it with diesel a couple times and it should be fine. I had to do the same thing with a Kohler in a GT about 4 years ago and that engine is still running strong.

Brought home another Cockshutt today, this is a 40 so everything is the same as my 50 except the size of the pistons, bit nicer loader on it and power steering, runs and drives but the gear shift is broken. Managed to get it in second gear so I can at least move it until I get the shifter fixed. Cheap rattlecan paint job but it looks ok if you dont get too close. Lol

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
