Thanks for the kind words guys. The front PTO was taken off because he said the springs were bad and it rattled all the time. I just don't know how to put it back.

The original seat had a fiberglass pan and is very fragile, if you manage to find an original seat in good condition you will likely pay several hundred dollars for it and then you run the risk of breaking it everytime you use the tractor. Unless your gonna restore it to a show tractor I'd stick with the seat you have, its more comfortable and less fragile.

Chances are the rattling is due to the anti-rattle springs coming loose or breaking, which does happen over time. It's doesn't make the PTO inoperable, just noisy (it can make it sound like there's a knock inside the engine) and it'll wear out a little faster. you have to disassemble it to replace them, so you may as well rebuild it at the same time. The hardest part is already done for you, so just pick up a rebuild kit from cub cadet or the sponsors, follow the directions and read a few threads from people who've been there and done that, and you'll be all set! It's not a long or difficult job, you can probably have it back together in a couple hours. Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask for help! Some great people on here.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
