I wouldn't worry one bit about the air cleaner... its your tractor! Have it like you prefer!
Thanks Jay. Just feel like I'm letting myself down. But I did dig out an old carb that should work but was so rough, thought what the heck threw it in a can of parts cleaner for a soak and see what happens.
I had a vision in my head when I started this thing, and the vision included the oil bath filtration system. But everything else I surpassed the vision. Not to say I can't change it down the road if it bothers me to much...

Thanks Terry.
I need to finish this one all the way before I start some needed work on the 1872. Maintenance, and some bugs worked out before lawn mowing festivities begin again. And the speed I work on them I better get going soon.
I'm sorry to admit, but "if" I dig into another "face lift" it's going to be a off brand model I've been itching to do something with. Be nice to be able to share it in the General Talk area, but this is OCC, and it is not

Very nice work!

I see the quality control inspector was giving the carb a close look see!

Always nice to have help / company in the shop.

Todd that "O" looks fantastic. That right there is as sweet as it gets. Wish I had the time and patience to attempt a resto such as that.

Thanks gentlemen, greatly appreciated.
Yeah it's nice having the dog hanging around the shop during the day. No Tim, he's not a Lew, he's a Colt 45.

I like it. Nice job. You can always run the dry air filter till you can find a carb that will work with the oil bath cleaner. It's better than running no element at all.

I just clicked on the first page of this thread to remind myself where this machine came from, then to now.

Wow! It is amazing. You do great work. If I ever wanted to get an O, it would be this one also.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
