Then there's also the problem of shipping the core. A concern here, as I've expressed before, is whether or not the core would even be accepted if indeed the broken rod damaged it inside.
The drivehub on the engine is a slip fit on the driveshaft. It's the larger piece on the left. The driveshaft has a 1/4" pin that fits the slot.

So that pin has to be removed before the engine is free to lift out?

No, it should slip out. ( if the slot is worn crooked, a slight turn may be necessary but no big deal )

I'll get a picture of used parts. I made the parts in the picture but they are already packed up

As long as I get a motor back and block is salvageable then you get a core credit. Seldom are the blocks damaged beyond repair. Only seen a few that were totally junk. Everything in the engine would have to be junk before I wouldn't refund at least a partial core.
Jon...IF I go with the restore option, which I'm really leaning towards now -especially if I could do this engine swap pretty much by myself, - I'd be buying your engine. I don't want to get involved in researching and talking with other people, checking out their engines, etc. Too much else on my plate right now for that. We would just need to work out a few more details....

Any reason why you wouldn't install the pin in shaft? Thats a pia to install!

When I make driveshafts, I do NOT install the pin as the purchaser needs to put on the cooling fan before installing the pin.

One thing I do to make it a bit easier is to make the hole the exact same size as the pin just at the beginning of the hole to make it easier to start straight.
