So I dug up this thread.... I guess I didn't ever comment on it, but I do remember it.

I've been a smoker for at least 15 years, and I finally decided I wanted to quit, or at least try. (I started a little later than most, I have no idea why.) I wouldn't say I'm that heavy a smoker, at a little over a pack a day. Well, today, I went to try acupuncture. I don't know if anyone has tried this or not, but it seems as though it may work. I have a little steel bead taped to the inside of my ear in one of the spots that she put a needle. I'm supposed to press on it if I feel the need to smoke. It does seem to get the craving to go away. I went in early this afternoon, and at the time I'm typing, I've had 3 cigarettes. Much better than normal as I would have had 7 or 8 by now. Well see what tomorrow brings, but I'm hopeful. Honestly, if I had more will power I probably wouldn't have HAD to have the 3 I've had..... but I really liked smoking. Just think it better to quit. She says it may take 3 or 4 times to completely stop, but it's less for some, more for others. Too many factors to say how many treatments it will take. I'm hoping for 2 or 3. I'll let you guys know.

I kind of skimmed through this thread again. How's everyone doing that tried the vapor thing?

I'm glad to hear you have found something that it working for you. I've hard many ways work to quit smoking; vapeing, gum, patch, acupuncture...to me, in my little world, it comes down to willpower and motivation. Many years ago, I was a somewhat heavy smoker in a dark down time of my life; a pack a day was a good day. Then things started picking up; better job, new g/f, new place to call home, etc. I found the motivation to quit. I quit for a good couple years and I was happy about it. I will 100% admit I missed the HABIT. I missed the stress relief, the short breaks from work, etc. So, I took up vaping. For me, it's been a happy medium.

All that off track track talk to say good luck to you John, life will truly be better once you've kicked the habit. You smell better (both smells and no more smoke stink!), food does taste better, you breath better, etc. The road won't be easy but it's completely worth it

So I had this great idea about 6yrs ago to stop smoking. My answer was
Copenhagen. Wow was that a bad idea! I would go back and quit smoking
five times over and it would be easier than quiting chew. It's worse cause it doesn't bother anybody else and I can do it anywhere.
Seems like I always find some reason not to quit. I got a divorce so that wasn't a good time to do it, business not going well so now is not a good time. These are just my excuses not real reasons but it's real to me

Been 16 years now, don't miss them at all. I am getting to where I don't like the smell.
I was a pack or more every day at one time.
Lighting a smoke was the first thing I did before even getting outta bed....
I used a patch a coupla weeks.

Thanks Ryan. Not being able to smell and taste was starting to bother me. Some foods I REALLY like were beginning to have little to no taste. Can't smell much of anything.... even me when I stink... LOL. Thanks for the encouragement!

That's me. Got divorced in 2012... business got bad... work, kids... stress.. Yeah, I can find a million reasons I need the habit. It is as real to me as they get. I completely understand!

Sounds like you quit about the time I started, LOL. I'm afraid I will miss it. I really like smoking. I like the taste, the stress relief... just the "habit". Everyone who smokes or used to know what we mean. I don't smoke in my house, (never have) but it is one of the first things I do usually when I get up. Sucks in the winter... (it's f'ing cold outside).

Thanks for the support guys.

Good luck Jon! I smoked when I used to run around , chasing women going to bars. But I've also chewed tobacco since I was 13. Yeah it's a nasty habit and the wife hates it. I know I should quit, but you first have to want to. You can't force someone to do something they don't want to. Like smoking it's a stress reliever and I like the taste too. I rarely ever smoke now. Maybe once a year if I'm hanging out with friends having a few beers!

I totally understand. 30 years ago I had enough of smoking, so went smokeless with Skoal long cut mint. Tasted like crap, but I wasn't going to let that stop me from stopping the smokes.
Well thirty years later I'M down to the pouches, still can't stop the crap. Don't even know when I got one in anymore, have to actually stop and think about it if I've got one in or not.
WAY harder to stop. But like I tell Nancy, no body likes a quitter. There is nothing out there to help a dipper stop...

I work in health care. Quit for your families. The risks are not worth it. Besides, with the cash you save you can buy more Cub parts and ammo.

Steve is right. My wife is a microbiologist at our regional hospital and she gets to see all the franken cells in onco samples as they come down to her for analysis as cancer takes root. Mouth and throat cancer from chewing should not be forgotten...its a shitty way to go. Seriously shitty.

For the chewers, I recommend getting some snare wire, you know...the kind you'd use for snaring rabbits. Solder an end to the lid of the chew can, then make a loop and loop the snare end around your testicle sac. Every time you reach for the can to open it...the snare gets tighter. Your brain will figure it out quick-like.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
