Default Cub Cadet 124 Wheel Bearings

Hi Guys;

I am ready to give up!

I have put 3 sets of wheel bearings in my 124 and the wheel is going to fall off again.

I even put new OEM wheels on the front.

I have Carlyle Ag (R1) on the front and rear and I am thinking this could be it.

I have new spindles and new wheel and new tires.

Does anyone have any ideas? My dealer thinks I am crazy but something
is definitely wrong.

Thoughts? Part pictures?

All appreciated

Got any pictures of the rim and bearing? Maybe the toe-in is way off?

I have already went through 2 of cub cadets super hd front wheel bearings, in mine the littlel balls keep crushing for no reason, so I started replacing them with nappa bearings and none of them have failed yet.

I will try to get some pics.

It seems that the wheel bearings are just failing. The roller balls seem to get dirty and just fall apart.

I like the idea of some Napa bearings.

This will be my third set.

The Ag tires on the front may be overloading the cheap china bearings.
It is sad the original bearings were far superior (IMHo).

Does anybody know the exact size ? Or just bring one to NAPA?

I have front ags on my 149 with what looks to be the original bearings. I know for a fact that the front end on my 149 is heavier than your 124, so something isn't right. You are greasing the bearings right?

Are you shimming the bearings so that they are preloaded? That is completely unnecessary and will destroy any bearing. In order to do that, it would have to be spaced inside race to inside race to survive. These are designed to run loose on the spindle shaft. Just a thought.

3/4" ID x 1-3/8 OD flanged wheel bearing with seals on both sides.

I will get new bearings and see how they fit.
I bought new rims because the old one had been chewed up on the inside.

There is a backer washer on the inside of the spindle.
Without them the bolt would not tighten the wheel onto the spindle.
The bearing fit perfectly into the rim and the tire moved free when I put it together. I am really wondering if the Ag tires are loading up the axle too much ?

I am trying to get an original part picture.

The spindles are also new but the old ones had a plate (washer) welded onto the inside.

I know a picture makes all of mean something. I will try and get a before and after.

The only washer I can recall being on the spindle is the outside washer the outer bolt goes thru. There should be a small amount of looseness side to side. Sounds like a PO did some welding to fix something he thought was wrong with it, but probably wasn't.
