Found this 124 stuck in the mud behind a shed in house I bought. Rebuilt the deck, serviced everything except trans (Don't know how to do that yet.) Best lawnmower I have ever had. Makes my yard machine seem like a toy. Very interested in either a snow plow or blower. Lot's of fun tinkering. It's a user, don't plan to completely restore or anything like that. could use some info on setting the valve clearance on the K301A 12 horse (terrific engine by the way.) I had to cut the grass guard off the shaft when it came loose (rusted bolts in the pulley. Will replace it when I do the shaft/clutch rebuild some time. Noticed the disk on the clutch assembly is kind of ovalled out (worn). Don't know how to get the shaft off yet but I am sure someone here does.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
