Default Push Blade

Hi Guys

I bought a 1340 recently that came with a plow (pic in my album). I need to use it to push some dirt and gravel but it has a trip mechanism that keeps engaging. Does someone know how to disengage this trip thing.
Thanks for your help.

Your blade was meant to push snow and to trip without putting excess strain on the tractor. If you are goung to use it for dirt, you will have to replace the springs with some type of solid link. Just be aware that this could cause the attaching parts to crack and break.

Not sure if your Blade is a normal IH blad but on mine it has a little oval peice with a handle right on the top that when you turn it and pull up you can lock the blade so it does not tip. It should be right in the center top of the blade if you have one.

Thanks Rales but mine doesn't have a handle on top. I have a pic of mine in my album, It's an older one that I believe has been modified but not sure.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
