Default New from Florida.

Hello everyone. I'm a 55-year-old quadriplegic. I live in Fort Meade Florida. If any of you are familiar with the Florida Flywheeler Park, it's just a few miles from my home. I have had a cub 106 rolling frame (no engine) setting behind my shop for about eight years. Had intended to originally make a pulling tractor. Six years ago, had a fall which left me a quadriplegic. (Just to let everyone know, I'm very happy to be in my current situation. After eight months in the hospital, God saw fit to let me continue my life in this chair. Most people with my level of injury never even make it to the hospital.) Anyway a couple of weeks ago I had an opportunity to pick up a 1450 in relatively good condition. It was missing a seat and fenders were very rusted. I am planning on using the fender assembly from my 106 to use on the 1450. I have been studying about cub cadets for the last five years. Hope to have mine up and running in another month. By the way in case you're wondering, I have a 15-year-old neighbor who is doing the work for me as I teach him about farm mechanics. I also volunteer at the high school teaching welding and agriculture mechanics.

Welcome to OCC. Sounds like you are going to have a great project and it is great to see you got someone quite young that is interested in that type of work. Keep us posted with how things are going!

welcome to OCC forums! If you get bored look for my thread in the IH garden tractor section. I picked up a pair of 1450's earlier this spring and have been having a good time with them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
